One Universal Christ, Rebecca Goetz

Although I grew up meeting with the local church in Tulare, California, I didn't really have any solid experiences of Christ until I was in college. I remember one spring break, in 1998, myself and about twenty fellow Christians at the University of California at Irvine, took a trip to the East Coast. We wanted to meet with some local churches there, so we called in advance to let them know we'd be in town. We flew into Washington D.C. and in ten days visited four or five cities on our way to Atlanta, Georgia. In each place we stayed a day or two and not only did they gather to meet us, but they also cooked huge, welcoming home-made dinners and then had us to stay in their homes! In each city we passed through, we met the families in the local churches and then stayed with them. It was so wonderful! Not only was it good to visit new places, but the highlight was seeing that these people whom we'd never met before had the same Christ in them! I really saw the Body of Christ! In each place we would all get together, students and families, and then sing and share what we enjoyed of Christ that day. It was so refreshing to hear so many different experiences of Christ and yet each one reflected the same Lord. He is truly the oneness within each of us.

Attracted and Drawn by the Love of Christ

In the summer of 1995, I came to a training given by Witness Lee on the books of Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, and Song of Songs in Anaheim, California. This training was the first I had ever attended. At first we covered how everything in the world is vanity of vanities. I had just come to this same conclusion in my personal life because nothing made me happy and what I pursued left me empty and deeply unsatisfied. I had never heard Witness Lee speak prior to this, but his speaking matched my experience! I saw how God has placed eternity in man's heart (Eccl. 3:11) and because of that nothing but God can satisfy man. I saw how Christ attracts His lovers to run after Him. I really saw that Christ is a Person and he is someone I want to get to know better. Since that training I have been pursuing the Lord in the only way that I know, that is, to love Him and allow Him to attract me more and more to Himself.
